COURSE DESCRIPTION:

The purpose of this course is to introduce general aspects of discourse theory and analysis. It is divided into four parts. First, various research backgrounds in the language sciences, humanities, and social sciences that gave rise to discourse theory are presented. Second, the main dimensions and key concepts in discourse theory are presented. Third, the methodologies and types of discourse analysis are discussed. And fourth, some of the most analyzed research topics in the field of Discourse Studies are presented.

It is an introductory course to discourse theory which will be very useful for students, teachers, or researchers who are entering the field of discourse analysis for the first time.
