WORKSHOPS, TALKS, AND COURSES
About this Workshop
The best way to learn to do Critical Discourse Analysis is by analyzing texts - many times. Although it is undoubtedly important to know the theoretical and methodological tools that we decide to use in a given research project, the practice of textual analysis is essential to develop solid discursive analysis.
This workshop is totally practical. Rather than focusing on theories, we will work with several texts to apply some of the most recurrent analytical categories in discourse studies: transitivity, presuppositions, implications, (macro)propositions and metaphors are amongst the categories that we will analyze in different types of texts throughout the workshop. We will work primarily with texts that workshop participants propose (these texts may form part of their research projects).
