Workshop description:
This text analysis workshop focuses on the use of five text analysis tools that are useful for studying ideologies, the representation of social actors, and identity.

Analysis of pronouns.

Lexical analysis

Analysis of social roles (agent, patient, beneficiary).

Analysis of speech acts (the social function of discourse)

Analysis of certain rhetorical devices (metonymy, synecdoche, metaphor, alliteration, personification, among others).
We will work with various types of text samples: news articles, slogans, songs, poems, conversations, manifestos, interviews, statements, etc.
The workshop will be led by César Colorado, professor-researcher of the Centre of Discourse Studies.
Program:
Session 1. May 2nd (Saturday), 16:00 to 18:00 (CEST time zone): Analysis of pronouns.
Session 2: May 9th (Saturday), 16:00 to 18:00 (CEST time zone): Lexical analysis.
Session 3: May 16th (Saturday), 16:00 to 18:00 (CEST time zone): Analysis of social roles (agent, patient, beneficiary).
Session 4: May 23rd (Saturday), 16:00 to 18:00 (CEST time zone): Analysis of speech acts (the social function of discourse).
Session 5: May 30th (Saturday), 16:00 to 18:00 (CEST time zone): Analysis of some rhetorical devices (metonymy, synecdoche, metaphor, alliteration, personification, among others).
