ABOUT THE LECTURE

This lecture explores how the effectiveness of sanctions can be measured not only through economic impact but through their discursive and symbolic influence. Bridging Social Constructivism and Critical Discourse Studies, it examines how sanctions shape meaning, signal norms, and trigger ideological transfer—such as shifts in corporate narratives or compliance rationales—as key indicators of success. The session introduces tools to trace how normative pressures and reputational concerns influence behavior, offering an alternative framework to assess the symbolic power of sanctions.
