IV International Meeting on Discourse and Social Protest 

The Research Group on Discourse and Social Protest (GIDyP) of the Centre of Discourse Studies is organizing the IV International Meeting on Discourse and Social Protest.

The international meeting will be held online and in-person at the Centre of Discourse Studies on March 19th and 20th, 2026, from 17:00-19:00 (CET/UTC+1).

The discussion will feature Teun van Dijk, Luisa Martín Rojo, Manuela Romano, Xavi Giró, and Guiomar Rovira.

Primary language of the event: Spanish

The fee for attending is €10 for the general public and free for members of the CentreDS. Registration is required in both cases.

ABOUT THE EVENT

The objective of this international meeting is to talk with our guests about the relationship between discourse and social protest. What does social protest mean today, between left-wing and right-wing demonstrations? How can social protest be studied critically? What role does discourse play in social protest? What are the new forms of social protest? How is social protest represented in the media?
