Course description:

Discourse plays a key role in social interaction, not only at the communicative level but also in the construction and reproduction of social structures and processes such as the abuse of power or social resistance. The purpose of this course is to explore concepts, authors, and studies related to the sociological dimension of discourse that are useful for Critical Discourse Analysis (CDA), particularly a line of research known as Positive Discourse Analysis, which focuses on discourses that seek social change, justice, and solidarity—not only among people but also in relation to nature.

The course is generally aimed at students and researchers in the field of discourse theory and analysis. It may be of particular interest to scholars in sociology, political science, and social ecology.

The course will be taught by César Colorado Ruiz, researcher and professor at the Centre of Discourse Studies.
